June 07

Greek proverb.....A society grows great when old men plant trees in whose shade they will never sit.....I believe in that.

June 8, 2007 Wildflowers in abundance.... Sunflowers, black eyed susans, horsemint and goldenrod are scattered.
June has been a month of unprecedented flooding and cool weather.

June 8, 2007 Fruit in abundance....
The winter months had a sufficient number of cold hours and with plenty of spring rainfall and no direct hair damage. This year is one of the best for a variety of fruit.

June 15, 2007 Unusual caterpillar
I like to only use sharp photos but this was the only shot I took of this unusual creature.

June 20, 2007 Coyote Problems
Photo on left shows an image is the remains of a full size female peacock, one of two the coyote killed as well as 3 ducks during the month. Coyotes will often roll around and defocate on the site of the kill. (Shown in this photo).....The peacocks usually range over a large area. When the adjacent fields of corn are harvested, the peacocks who are temporarily in a pen will be released. Click here for a website with information about coyote predation.

June 25, 2007 Watersnake? or Ratsnake
June was a month of constant rain and cool temperatures....wetter and cooler than any I remember in 40 years in Texas.
